Nanzuka Underground

Established in 2005 in Shibuya, Tokyo under the name Nanzuka Underground. It operates as an experimental planning gallery that deals academically with creativity in the peripheral fields of art, such as design, illustration, street culture, fashion, and music. At the same time, the gallery is rediscovering talents such as Keiichi Tanaami, Motoi Sorayama, Harumi Yamaguchi, and Toshio Saeki, who have been appreciated outside the postwar Japanese art scene and striving to introduce them to the international contemporary art scene. At the same time, it cooperates with many international galleries to nurture and introduce young and mid-career artists in Japan, such as Hiroki Tsukuda, Akiyoshi Mishima, Ryuichi Ohira, Masato Taniguchi, Masato Morimasato, and Haroshi, while at the same time working with selected international artists to embody the current global art scene.

The new flagship gallery opened in Jingumae 3-chome at the end of May 2021. The exterior walls are custom painted by Tetsuya Nakamura, and the entrance bears a logo design by Motoi Sorayama.
