Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura Annex

Photo: Keizo Kioku

The Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura Annex was designed by architect Masato Otaka and opened in 1984. Located northwest of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, about 350 meters on foot along the Kamakura Kaido Road, it is designed to blend in with the residential area between the mountains.

Several exhibitions a year, centering on the collection, introduce modern and contemporary art from Japan and abroad, as well as artists associated with Kamakura. The café and sculpture garden facing the garden can be enjoyed without a visitor's ticket.
