BlackBoxKyoto

BlackBox Kyoto (BBK) is an experimental art project space centered on moving image. Through diverse programs including installation, screenings, and performance, we connect artists and audiences from Japan and abroad. Founded in Kyoto in 2018 under the concept of "making the invisible visible," we develop experimental programs unconstrained by conventional exhibition formats. A black box is both the dark theatrical performance space and, in information theory, a system whose inner workings are opaque. We function as a space that embodies both meanings.
