In Sendai, many literary figures were born, lived, or spent their youth, and many have made outstanding contributions to the history of literature. In addition to collecting and preserving the works of these and other local literary figures, the Sendai Literature Museum aims to provide access to modern literary materials that tend to be scattered and lost, as a public asset, and to pass them on to future generations via research, exhibitions, and other activities.
