Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature

Opened in 1984. The museum has held more than 80 special and special exhibitions, including large-scale exhibitions by genre such as popular literature, children's literature, poetry, etc., exhibitions by writers such as Soseki Natsume, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Kyoka Izumi, the three Arishima brothers (Takeo Arishima, Ikuma Arishima, and Ton Satomi), Saneatsu Mushanokoji, Yasunari Kawabata, Osamu Dazai, Eiji Yoshikawa, Shugoro Yamamoto, etc., and exhibitions of literary walks in Kanagawa in location such as Kamakura, Yokohama, and Kawasaki. In addition to the Kazuo Ozaki Collection and the Mitsuo Nakamura Collection, which honor the achievements of individual writers and collectors, the museum has collected handwritten materials of many writers associated with Kanagawa, books, and a vast number of literary magazines. As of fiscal 2010, the total number of books, magazines, and handwritten documents (special documents) exceeded 440,000, 460,000, and 180,000, respectively.
