Sezon Museum of Modern Art was established in Takanawa, Tokyo in 1962. Since its move to Karuizawa, Nagano in 1981, the museum has built up an international collection of 20th century art. It focuses on three areas: works by modern masters, a selection of contemporary art from abroad and recent Japanese artists.
The Museum currently houses over 600 works by 120 artists such as Kandinsky, Klee, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Abakanowicz, Kiefer, Clemente, Hisao Domoto, Keiji Usami, Shusaku Arakawa and Kazumi Nakamura.

10 minutes by taxi from Naka-karuizawa Station; From JR Karuizawa Station or Naka-karuizawa Station on the Shinano Railway, take the bus towards to Kusatsu Onsen and get off at Karuizawa Sengataki Onsen. The venue is 7 minute walk from there.
