This event has ended.

Kouji Ohno distinguished himself as a wooden sculptor while an art student at Tama Art University. After the graduate course he began serious activity as an artist, holding solo exhibitions almost every year and appearing in many group exhibitions since 1999.

He consistently sculpts the motif of "human body". He has been training not only his technical skills but also researching the structure of the human body, having enrolled at medical college anatomical laboratory.

His creative process is unique. Hi sculptures of elaborately-curved real-size bodies are truncated and hollowed out. The forms show both a delicate and strong tension from the thin curved wood that is just like skin wrapping a body. Furthermore, he makes the body suspended in a metal frame, which indicates a minimum space that human involves. It reveals the existence of the "spirit" that hides inside the body.
