Against the backdrop of the falling number of primary school students, the reorganisation of elementary and middle schools, and the virtualization of teaching materials, there has emerged a great difference between how the current post-1989 generation and the "former children" of the previous generation view compulsory education and the curriculum, which used to be the experience all Japanese people held in common.
For many, the materials they once used in elementary and middle school and remember with nostalgia are changing, or disappearing altogether.
This exhibition and sale consists mostly of school materials which are slowly disappearing off the shelves, objects that will be nostalgic to "former children" but are still impressive even today.
"School Supplies Shop" is a nostalgic way of saying goodbye to a part of the mid-20th century.
