This event has ended.

While working as a painter, Yamauchi (1975-) has been also active as a studio designer for TV programs and illustrator for magazines. His focus is now on the production of original work laden with social aspect, to which his experience in various media is reflected.

Dealing with "hope within the apprehensions of contemporary society", Yamauchi expresses the social conditions and issues of contemporary world through bold and humorous compositions and the ukiyo-e and nihonga-based gekiga (comic) style.

By blending pessimistic images with lovely, pomp-filled motifs, Yamauchi depicts singular properties of present day in a positive manner.

Having won favorable recognition in the exhibition in Shanghai, much is expected in the future career of this artist. Around 10 new painting are on view.
