Shunsuke Francois Nanjo Exhibition

Wada Fine Arts

This event has ended.

Presenting two installations exhibited at France’s Aurillac Museum last year, “Fantomes” and “Hypermnesia.” These interactive installations have been reworked to belong to a fully participatory program featuring the work of a three-person artistic unit including a computer programmer and a sound engineer. Shunsuke Francois Nanjo is responsible for the subject and artistic direction of the exhibition, which displays visual representations of his thoughts about memory, a recurring theme in his work.

The pieces are based on a variety of elements concerned with the recollections of Nanjo’s grandfather. When a grandfather passes on memories to his grandchild, these personal remembrances are transformed through nostalgia for the past and reproduced as new experiences, a process that creates bonds between the generations. This exhibition invites visitors to think deeply about these ideas of family ties and memories.
