As the first exposition in 2014, Promo-Arte presents “Borderless of Cuban Art” exhibition, in which visitors can appreciate diverse approaches to contemporary art from 4 Cuban artists, currently drawing international attention beyond borders. Abel Barroso creates wooden sculptural works imitating cellular phones, laptop PC and tablets through analog techniques, the plethora of media technology contrasting with the restrictions upon internet freedoms in Cuba. Sandra Ramos creates prints, sculpture and moving image works based upon Greek myths, expressing the spirit of utopia and disillusionment felt. Spanish based, Yendris Patterson creates paintings tackling Cuban “border violation”. And finally, Julio Cesar Pena, featured on the poster of this exhibition, creates powerful large-sized prints in which the people are all described as skeletons. These artists gather together to propose a new form of inner borderlessness.
