The Hinomaru (Japan’s national flag), nuclear issues, aging society, wars…These days a lot of artists take up these issues as their subjects. Ebata is also one of them. However, she treats these issues in her own calm way. Ebata has worked and exhibited abroad, but this is her first solo gallery show in Japan, presenting a rare opportunity to see major works from throughout her career, including performance, video and installation.
