A new solo exhibition by Eiichi Watanabe is the artist’s first in 10 years. Mr. Watanabe won the 1st Print Art Grand-Prix hosted by Galerie Nichido in 1970, which led to his debut. Since working in print art, he has lately been exploring his unique worldview through mixed media, mainly with oil paintings.
“Boys’ Kingdom” is a story of the space dreamed of by a boy as the main character whom the artist has transformed into. In this exhibition, it is further developed into a series of an abandoned buildings and art pieces, which may imply a turning point for the “Kingdom.” Each viewer may enjoy how this story proceeds as they like. Approximately twenty new pieces are on display.
