This event has ended.

In July 2020, Decameron opened in Kabukicho, Shinjuku during COVID-19 and reopened in 2021 with more exhibition space.

Decameron will celebrate its reopening with artist Wataru Koyama’s solo exhibition “The Heart is Beating”. Koyama was born in Tokyo in 1992 and graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 2016. Based on his interest in the human spirit and imagination, he has been presenting videos, photographs, and installations. In recent years, he has developed works related to mental illness, inspired by his work at a mental welfare facility.

The title of this exhibition, “The Heart is Beating,” is taken from the words of a schizophrenic who said just before his death, “My heart is beating.” With the words “the heart is beating” as the main axis, the artist will present a new installation that questions life and death.
