Naoaki Yamamoto has experimented with new expressions in Nihonga, including emotional brushwork, tension-filled compositions, and picture planes painted directly on abandoned doors. This exhibit focuses on his newest large painting― sixteen meters wide ― which rearranges fragments from his memories to explore the artist’s past, present, and future. Also included will be recent paintings inspired by words in the Bible, myths, and novels, reflecting the artist’s mindscape.
